High-order CDG-FE methods for shallow water waves

wave-on-slope2 The paper “High order well-balanced CDG-FE methods for shallow water waves by a Green-Nagdi model”, co-authored by M. Li, P. Guyenne, F. Li and L. Xu, has been published in the Journal of Computational Physics.  An electronic link to the article is here. In the paper, they consider a one-dimensional fully nonlinear weakly dispersive Green–Naghdi model for shallow water waves over variable bottom topographies. The numerical approach is to reformulate the equations into balance laws coupled with an elliptic equation, and use a family of high order numerical methods which discretize the balance laws with well-balanced central discontinuous Galerkin methods and the elliptic part with continuous finite element methods.
